The Lantern Audio Tours MPTouch Interactive
The MPTouch Interactive is a purpose-built, robust, 5” Android tablet player with a high quality capacitive screen and a battery pack designed for all-day repeat rental distribution. The device is ruggedized with an integral rubber frame, making it easy and comfortable to hold, and can be provided with a wider lanyard ideal to promote event, sponsor or site branding. The tablet is Wi-Fi-enabled, and can also be connected via GPS, Bluetooth LE, FM, or FSK.
Multimedia Tour System
This platform supports all standard device media including audio, video, text, animation and touchscreen interactive content. It can also support triggered content, image recognition using the camera and 360° image and video using the magnetometer.
The MPti platform is supplied complete with 10-unit modular chargers, headphones, lanyards, data capture, storage and analysis capability and an upload and download software suite, as standard.

MPti Software Solution – TourBuilder™
Although the MPTouch Interactive players can support any app built for Android devices, the platform we suggest to build and maintain most museum apps is the TourBuilder. This custom-built platform is capable of creating apps looking like most CSM template based apps already in the museum industry, but also has a much broader set of abilities and flexibility to help future proof possible additional file formats, layouts, and experiences for the tour. The main advantage of the TourBuilder platform is that the museum will not be locked into a single look and feel for the app due to CMS restrictions. Museum teams will have full access to adapt on their own (or with our help) the app for the initial launch or down the road.
TourBuilder, our content creation platform, is designed to be a flexible, modular system allowing for freedom of creative design, innovative user interface and a bespoke approach to every tour we create.

As the MPti device is essentially designed in the same way as a consumable handheld tablet, TourBuilder was created to support this and enhance the device’s features.
The important thing to understand is that TourBuilder is not a templated content builder. Instead we use a unique approach that we call the ‘T99’. This groups small areas on the touchscreen into programmable ‘squares’, which can be assigned commands and actions. This approach allows creative freedom in terms of designing the user interface and adding ‘buttons’, actions or interactive areas.
The flexibility of the system allows us to create different types of tours and interfaces from linear stop-by-stop tours to map-driven, self-curated experiences. TourBuilder also has list view options and additional ‘blocks’ that can be added anywhere into tours to create additional functionality and content. The technical build process uses simple excel formulas and action codes so both content and functionality can be updated easily and quickly.
